EXPRESSING MY TRUE SELF THROUGH CINEMA
expressing my true self through cinema
The world of graphic design came to me when I was eleven years old. I had always been an artistic kid growing up, whether that meant I was drawing, painting, you name it. One day my father introduced me to Adobe Photoshop, little did I know that would set the course for the rest of my life.
It started out with simple photo manipulations, bad collages really. I would just edit a bunch of images together within a certain theme, usually revolving around superheroes. As the years passed by, I kept at it, slowly getting better as I go. I’ve always had great admiration for the art of movie posters. That quickly became something I grew fond of making. Over time creating posters for film and television became my own way of expressing myself. I’d put my own heart into these posters. This is my escape.
My love for film posters has been a major part of my life ever since I knew what graphic design was. Film posters are one of the most important forms of advertising for movies as it is often one of the first things released to the public. Making posters and other advertising for the entertainment industry is something I hope I am lucky enough to be able to do someday. The posters below is just a sample of the works I have made for some of my favorite movies and television shows.
Sometimes film posters aren’t as creative as they could be. The creators have a job to do and they do it how they and the studio think is best. But sometimes I like to challenge myself to create using other methods, such as illustrating. When designs are illustrated rather than being photographic, they can be brought to another level, and sometimes it’s just what the artwork needs.
